Since March 2023, Dr. Matthias heck has been heading the newly established department called “Assessment Procedures and Technical Support for Digital Consumer Protection in Artificial Intelligence” at the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Prior to this role, Dr. Matthias Heck pursued a degree in Geophysics and completed his doctorate in the field of Snow and Avalanche Research. Before transitioning to the BSI in Juli 2022, he worked as a Data Scientist. At the BSI, Dr. Matthias Heck joined the newly formed department at Saarbrücken focusing on AI Security where he primarily dealt with security risks related to large language models. His current focus revolves around explainability, evaluation, and consumer protection in the realm of artificial intelligence.
