Paul joined the NCA in 2019 to lead the National Firearms Targeting Centre, the National Drugs Targeting Centre and Tactical Analysis. In July 2021 he was appointed Deputy Director of National Tasking and Co-ordination. In December 2022 he was appointed to lead the National Cyber Crime Unit. Paul joined the NCA from West Midlands Police where he was Head of Intelligence in the ROCU and prior to that, Deputy Head of Covert Operations. He has previously worked in Counter Terrorism, Offender Management and a range of frontline policing roles. Paul is an advocate of Evidence Based Policing and holds an MSc in Police Leadership and Management from Warwick Business School. He is also an experienced Hostage and Crisis Negotiator.
