Welcome to CYBERUK 2023!
CYBERUK 2023, the UK’s flagship cyber security event, is
brought to you by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
With an international reputation for excellence that grows
year-on-year, we are delighted to bring CYBERUK to Belfast
for the first time.
Over the next ten years, we face an unprecedented growth in
digital and technological development. This will bring huge benefits to society, but it also has the potential to threaten the national and
economic security interests of the UK and other free and open societies.

Over the next ten years, we face an unprecedented growth in digital and technological development. This will bring huge benefits to society, but it also has the potential to threaten the national and economic security interests of the UK and other free and open societies.
At CYBERUK 2023, we will look to answer some of the most challenging questions facing the international cyber community today: what will our cyberspace be like in ten years’ time? Will we be able to secure it, so it remains free, open and democratic? Will we have nurtured and grown the talent needed? What will our counterparts in the future say to us if don’t act now?
Experts and international leaders in cyber security will come together in Belfast to examine how today’s cyber ecosystem can strengthen, collaborate and innovate in order to resist the threats, be ready for the opportunities, and ensure the UK is the safest place to live and work online.

It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you to CYBERUK 2023,
here in Belfast.
As a proud Northern Irish woman, I am delighted to showcase the best that Northern Ireland has to offer but my enthusiasm for being back in Belfast is not borne out of mere sentimentality.
The forward-looking spirit of innovation and industry that made this part of the world such an engine of the world economy continues to thrive today. Northern Ireland is a global cyber security hub, with a wealth of talent being nurtured in local
universities, like Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University, and an impressive range of over 100 companies of every size delivering global cyber security solutions.
It’s no wonder that Northern Ireland is a prime investment location for US cyber security firms and the perfect place for CYBERUK 2023, where we will explore how to secure an open and
resilient digital future.
Over the next two days, the world’s best cyber experts will share their insights and ideas about keeping pace with rapidly developing technology, at a time when China is seeking to dominate and shape the digital landscape and Russia is striving to sow discord through destructive cyber operations.
We will hear from government ministers, industry leaders and intelligence agency heads about the importance of gaining and maintaining strategic technological advantage that aligns with our
democratic values and economic interests. Whether it is manufacturing semiconductors or developing digitally connected products that are ‘secure by default’, ambitious goals require

We will hear from government ministers, industry leaders and intelligence agency heads about the importance of gaining and maintaining strategic technological advantage that aligns with our democratic values and economic interests. Whether it is manufacturing semiconductors or developing digitally connected products that are ‘secure by default’, ambitious goals require difficult choices. However, as our speakers will explain, the decisions taken today will lay the foundations for a secure, free and democratic cyberspace in the future.
These are just some of the topics that will be covered in our presentations and panel debates, which promise to delve into the complexities and opportunities associated with securing an open and resilient digital future. The unique perspectives and critical thinking offered by our diverse range of contributors will provide us with valuable insights into creating a digital world that benefits the whole of society.
For those of you looking for hands-on technical engagement, our Technical Masterclass sessions are back by popular demand. In fact, all the favourites are back – Cyber Den, Cyber Games, lightning talks. And no CYBERUK would be complete without our incredible exhibitors.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our lead sponsors, AWS and Google Cloud, for supporting CYBERUK 2023. They, along with a range of private and public sector organisations, are instrumental in making this year’s conference dynamic, diverse and digitally accessible.
I hope you have a great couple of days.

Have you got what it takes to win the Cyber Games? Technical skills and teamwork are key to resilience. Our Cyber Games sponsor, Censys, has built a new Capture The Flag system that allows delegates to participate in a series of challenges set by industry partners.
Each taking no longer than 10-15 minutes, these bite-sized tasks are competitive and collaborative. Designed for delegates of all skill levels, they are categorised by a ‘chilli rating’ to signify the depth of technical competency required.
